Influence Factors

Are your methods for decision-making hurting your bottom line?

What are the methods by which most small business leaders make decisions? Some methods stick out more than others, but we have all relied on a few.

  • Prior Personal Experience

  • Advice from others with experience in the matter/ Referral

  • Google It

  • Gut Feeling

What are the factors that influence people's decision-making when it comes to utilities?

Prior Personal-I have had utilities with this company in the past. Worked for me. That's what I'm doing again.

Referral/advice- A friend of mine had utilities with this company in the past. It worked for them. I’m going to do what they did.

Google-According to Google, this company is the best. There are good reviews about them. They seem legit. That's what I'm doing. Also referred to as Google Syndrome or blindly trusting the Internet.

Gut Feeling- I think this is a great deal. This is the best decision I can make based on my gut feeling.

Our avenues of decision lead to our final choice, and then we simply go through the motions and pay bills as they roll in each month. No one bothers with this again.

Occasionally, we might read the terms on a bill, look at our usage, and pay the bill anyways, regardless of how we feel about it. These thoughts are thoughts until they just aren't anymore.

The reality in this is that decisions about utilities are about cents that quickly lead to thousands of dollars. When it's time to renew again, we go through these decisions again, so it's a top priority at the moment, but then it's forgotten about until it's time to renew again. So again, history repeats itself and our methods start to replay.

Which company did I use previously? Is there a better company I could use?

According to Google, this is a good price. I have a gut feeling.

While we might be looking for an alternative now, once we sign the contract, it's just something we accept and then ignore.

In the open market of energy, while transparency is offered, consumers do not have a clear picture. The system feels monopolistic and confusing as consumers believe they have no choice to cut costs but only to pay, they give up and give in.

Our goal is to provide consumers with information about their options, negotiate contracts of their choice on their behalf, and remove overcharges that they are not responsible for.

Our goal is to change the way people make utility decisions.
